Police say at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, a man entered a private residence in Summerville, armed with a knife. The man fled when the homeowner confronted him, according to Sgt. Alain Desrosiers Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP. Nothing was taken.

The RCMP arrested a suspect a short time later.  Luke Dakin Dickie appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on Tuesday to face charges in connection with the attempted robbery. He entered not guilty pleas to all offences, Desrosiers said.

Dickie is scheduled to reappear in court on Thursday for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe this was an isolated incident.
