NB Man Sentenced to Prison for Possessing Child Porn
A 37-year-old man from Moncton was sentenced to two years in prison for possession and accessing child pornography.
Sean Timothy Sullivan also received an additional one year in prison/jail for an unrelated matter where he was charged for drug related offences and a breach of his condition, by possessing a computer system.
The investigation dates back more than two years to when he was arrested on January 19, 2015. That's when members of the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, which includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, along with the RCMP's Technological Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Codiac RCMP members executed a search warrant at a residence on Dominion Street in Moncton. Police seized several electronic devices.
Sean Timothy Sullivan was charged with possession and accessing child pornography. He subsequently pleaded guilty to the charges.
In addition to his sentence, Sullivan will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry for life, is prohibited from using the internet for non-work-related purposes. He is also prohibited from being around or communicating by any means with anyone under the age of 16 without the presence of an adult.
The court has imposed a publication ban to protect the identity of the victim who is under the age of 18.
