Kurt Andrew Hudnut appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on June 14, 2016, and was charged with first-degree murder. He was arrested June 13, at approximately 8:30 p.m., on Mountain Road in Moncton.

The RCMP in New Brunswick’s Major Crime Unit has been investigating Rattray’s disappearance. He was last seen in the early morning hours of March 2, at his residence on Walker Road in Tilley.

A short time later on that date, police and fire crews responded to a fire at the home. The house was destroyed by the fire.  A pickup truck belonging to Rattray was located on March 7, on a lane off Highway 109 in Three Brooks, engulfed in flames.

Human remains that were discovered near Renous, N.B., on May 21 were confirmed to be those of Wayne Rattray, and the investigation led police to believe he was murdered.

Kurt Hudnut has been remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on July 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
