A Fredericton area man has been found guilty of attempted murder in the Jan. 29 shooting of his former lover.

Thirty-eight-year-old Benjamin Nason was accused of trying to kill Beth Ann Wallace, who suffered a single gunshot wound to her upper body, outside her Fredericton home. Nason told the court that he had been drinking that night and remembers going to Wallace’s house but does not remember shooting her.

Wallace has undergone several surgeries and still has no function in one arm.

The CBC reports the jury returned the guilty verdict on Thursday morning in Fredericton. Nason will be sentenced in October. He faces at least 5 years in prison.
