A Stacyville man has been charged with operating a meth lab following a traffic stop late Saturday afternoon on Main Street in Sherman Mills.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Jordan Pelkey was driving the Ford F-150 pickup truck. Sheriff’s Deputies searched the vehicle and allegedly found a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  Police also say they discovered items believed to have been used to make methamphetamine.

The truck was seized and towed to the secure impound lot at the Maine State Police barracks in Houlton. Pelkey was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, unlawful operation of a methamphetamine lab and violation of conditions of release.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s lab team later executed a search warrant on the vehicle and seized a number of items used in making methamphetamine.

Pelkey, who was out on bail for a drug possession charge, remains in jail and faces up to ten years in prison if convicted, according to Acting Sheriff Shawn Gillen.
