Suspected Meth Lab in Newfield [UPDATE]
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and their Clandestine Drug Laboratory Enforcement Team responded a residence on the Stone Road in Newfield, Maine for a reported meth lab Tuesday.
According to Public Safety from Spokesman Steve McCausland, on Monday, June 2, 2014, deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve civil paperwork to the resident renting a mobile home at 481 Stone Road, Newfield.
The resident was not at home at the time, deputies notified MDEA after they observed several items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine outside the home.
Late Tuesday morning, the MDEA lab team served the search warrant at the mobile home. Assisting MDEA was the Newfield Fire Department and Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Agents dismantled about ten, “one pot” laboratories. They also retained samples for testing and to assist in criminal prosecution.
Suspects in this investigation have been identified, but not charged. Evidence collected at the scene along with the investigative report will be reviewed by the Attorney General’s Office for charges.
This is the thirteenth methamphetamine lab incident in Maine this year. There were twenty incidents in 2013.
