The Maine State Police responded to a single vehicle roll-over on Lake Road in Monticello after the driver swerved to miss an animal in the roadway.
Friday, Corporal Dennis Quint responded to a single vehicle in Monticello. Jamie Burtt was driving her 1996 Chevrolet Blazer east on the Lake Road when she said a small animal, possibly a beaver, came into the roadway.
Burtt swerved to avoid hitting the animal, lost control of her vehicle, and went off the left side of the roadway. Burtt’s vehicle went over a steep ditch, rolled one time, and came to rest suspended on some downed trees, said police.
Some passersby assisted Burtt getting out of the vehicle. Monticello First Responders came to the scene and Houlton Ambulance was called as well.
Burtt was not transported to the hospital. York’s Towing removed the vehicle from the ditch and towed it to their facility in Houlton.
