An Ashland woman was seriously injured Wednesday evening in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer on Route 11 in Masardis.

Maine State Police say 53-year-old Carla Bragdon was driving a 2000 Toyota Coralla south on Route 11 when she crossed the center line into the path of a tractor trailer in the northbound lane. The truck driver, 38-year-old Robert Leathers of Medway reported the accident at 8:41 p.m., according to Sgt. Brian Harris.

Ashland Ambulance and Masardis Fire Department extracted Bragdon from the vehicle and transported her to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle.  Bragdon was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, Harris said. Leathers was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.

Sgt. Harris said it's not known at this time why Bragdon crossed the center line but alcohol is considered to be a factor. Troopers Carman Lilley and Adam Stoutamyer investigated the collision.

Trooper Robert Flynn, Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit, also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, which is still on-going.
