Fort Kent, Ashland, and Wisdom all reached girls soccer state championship games, giving The County one of its strongest championship-weekend showings of the year.

Spring Week Seven Athlete of the Week voting is open, with boys and girls ballots featuring state track champions, state placers and diamond standouts.

County softball teams are set for tournament play, with unbeaten Katahdin, Class B Presque Isle, Class C Houlton/GHCA and several Class D teams in the field.

May 11 County sports action featured baseball and softball wins for Caribou, Katahdin, Washburn and Fort Fairfield.

Opening day of the 2026 tournament featured County teams in Bangor and a Class D girls prelim. Tonight brings two more win-or-advance games: Presque Isle vs John Bapst at 5:30 and Central Aroostook vs Schenck at 6:00.

Ashland beat Deer Isle-Stonington 27-16 in a Class S quarterfinal in Bangor. Ashland forced 26 turnovers and had 17 steals, led by Sadie Trams with 10 points.

The incident happened at a railroad crossing on Route 11 in the area of Depot Street and the Clark Siding Road in Ashland, Maine.

An Ashland man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged a single-story house on Wednesday.

Seven deer in total were found dead in the area of Sheridan Road. Wardens confirmed that four had been shot.
