A 42-year-old wanted man was apprehended and charged with armed robbery in Cornish.

Armed Robbery and Clerk Assaulted

The Maine State Police said James Palmer was identified as the main suspect after a man with a gun robbed the safe at Cornish Variety and assaulted a female clerk on May 6.

Convicted Felon and Charges

An arrest warrant for Palmer charged him with Robbery with a Firearm, Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, and Violating Conditions of Release. He also has three prior felony convictions for Robbery.

Guns Seized with Warrants

During the investigation, police executed search warrants and seized several firearms and items used in the commission of the crime.

Arrested at Hotel

On May 22, Palmer was located at a Scarborough hotel and taken into custody. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail with cash bail set at $10,000.
