RCMP say the man  was driving on Route 16 in Baie Verte, which leads to the Confederation Bridge, when his vehicle went off the road and hit a culvert.

The driver was taken to Sackville Hospital where he passed away as a result of his injuries. Police say he was the only one in the vehicle. The victim is identified as Kevin Charles Sark of Woodstock First Nation and Lennox Island.

Sackville RCMP are investigating the cause of the crash. Police say impairment and distracted driving have not been ruled out as possible factors.
