Some 1,600 Woodstock area residents are still without electricity after the first major snowstorm of the season, but there is good news; a warming center has been set up those who need it.

NB Power is working diligently to restore but, but the utility says it could be the end of the day before power is restored to everyone.

A warming center is being staffed by disaster volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross in the Wesleyan Church hall on Lockmart Mill Road, north of Woodstock.

The warming center will offer a chance to warm up, get something warm to drink or even bottled water, as well as a charging station for mobile devices and medical aids.

Woodstock was the hardest hit with power outages, currently just over 1,600 remain without power in the area.
