The RCMP is investigating a single vehicle crash near Chipman Thursday that claimed the lives of a 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.

Police responded to the call at approximately 11:30 a.m. after a pickup truck went off the Roy Mills Road, down an embankment and landed on its roof in a body of water. A 14-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Constable Derek Black of the New Brunswick RCMP.

Police say a 13-year-old boy later died at the hospital.  Two other boys under the age of 18 were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The identities of the victims are not being released pending notification of their families.

Ambulance New Brunswick and Chipman Fire Department responded to the scene. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an RCMP collision reconstructionist.
