An  RCMP investigation has concluded that the death of a couple whose bodies were found in their home in a small community in northeast New Brunswick late last month was the result of a murder-suicide.

Police were called to a home on Colford Lane in Howard just before 4 p.m. on July 30 where they discovered the bodies of a 68-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife.

The village of Howard is located just southeast of Blackville, in Northumberland County.

An investigation led by the RCMP's Major Crime Unit and the Blackville Detachment wrapped up this week.

At the request of the family, the names and details surrounding the deaths will not be made public.
