New Brunswick RCMP Arrest Man Near Benton Who Was Wanted On Warrant
The West District RCMP Woodstock Detachment was able to arrest a 22-year-old man who was wanted on a warrant of arrest issued by the Woodstock Police Force.
According to the report, on March 23, 2018, around 8 a.m., RCMP responded to a tip from the public that a man wanted by the Woodstock Police Force had been seen in the Canterbury area.
With assistance from the Woodstock Police Force, RCMP members pursued the suspect who was riding an ATV in a rural area.
The suspect abandoned the ATV and was arrested around 8:30 a.m. following a short foot pursuit near Benton. No members of the public were in the area during the incident, and no one was injured.
Edward John Hayes of Benton is charged with assault causing bodily harm and violation of a judge's undertaking. He has been remanded in custody pending a future court appearance.
Police continue to investigate.
