Gas prices went up, down or held steady in the last week, depending on where you drive in New England.

The latest price report from GasBuddy.com shows the average price in Maine held steady from last week at $2.51 a gallon. In Presque Isle, however, most stations showed a price Monday morning of $2.61 a gallon, a drop of a nickel a gallon from last week.

In neighboring New Hampshire, gas fell a penny from last week to an average price of $2.44 a gallon. Pump prices in Vermont rose slightly over last week to $2.63 a gallon.

The average price of gas, nationally, dropped a couple of cents in the past week to an average $2.63. That's 6 cents a gallon higher than last month, but is still 25 cents a gallon lower than last year at this time.
