Following the national trend, gas prices are still dropping in northern New England.

Motorists are reaping the rewards of lower gas prices near the tail end of summer.

The latest GasBuddy price reports show Maine gas prices dropped 2.8 cents a gallon from the past week, averaging $2.60. Prices at most stations in Presque Isle, as of Monday morning, were at $2.75 a gallon.

Prices at the pump in New Hampshire fell 3 cents a gallon in the last week, bringing the average to $2.54. . In Vermont, prices fell slightly, to $2.67 a gallon.

The national average is $2.60 per gallon, which is down 17 cents from a month ago, and 22.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.
