Body Found In Water In Hampden; Officials Look Into Cause Of Death
Authorities are looking into the circumstances of what led to the death of a woman who was found in the water in the town of Hampden over the weekend.
According to a statement released by the Hampden Public Safety Office Monday, authorities were called just after 4 PM Sunday, for a report of a body in the water near a local construction company, at 719 Main Rd. in Hampden.
"Hampden Public Safety received a report of a deceased female on the shore of the Penobscot River in the area of Hughes Brothers Construction. Police and fire personnel responded...The body was recovered and eventually transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta."
The Bangor Fire Department also assisted in the search and recovery, lending their watercraft to the effort.
Authorities say that while the death does not seem to be suspicious, the details surrounding the death are under investigation.
They have not released a name at this time.
