The body of a 38-year-old man was found in the woods by a drone in Rumford.

Missing Man’s Body Found by Drone

Christopher Gilbert’s body was located near Joe’s Pond on Friday morning after a two-day multi-agency search. He was reported missing on May 12.

Apparent Cause of Death

Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan said “There are no apparent signs of foul play, and injuries observed at the scene appear consistent with a suicide. There is no danger or risk to the public.”

Drone Search

A drone from the Maine Wardens Service was used after two days of ground searches with officers and K-9 teams.

Body Located

The drone “located what appeared to be a body. Coordinates were immediately relayed to ground teams, who responded and confirmed the discovery to be Mr. Gilbert,” said Chief Milligan.

Ongoing Investigation

Gilbert’s body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
