A 78-year-old man died Friday after an ATV crash in Rumford.

Scouting Deer Hunting Locations on a Steep Hill

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said the ATV rolled over as the man was on a steep hill scouting locations for deer hunting season.

ATV Pinned Man to the Ground after He was Thrown from Vehicle

The ATV landed on the 78-year-old after he was thrown. He was pinned to the ground by the vehicle around 12:30 pm in the woods near Wyman Hill Road.

Wife Ran for Help after the Crash

The man's wife went for help and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Name was not released.

Officials Believe Steep Terrain Caused Crash

Wardens believe steep terrain was the cause of the fatal crash.
