A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Domestic Violence Assault in Mount Vernon.
Attempted Murder Charges
James Oakes also faces charges for Reckless Conduct with a dangerous weapon.
Pointed Rifle
Oakes was charged with pointing a rifle at a woman in a dispute about her moving away.
Threatened Woman
The woman called 911 and said that he told her he was going to kill her and then kill himself, according to the Sun Journal.
Swerved Vehicle
The two got into her vehicle and he allegedly tried to swerve the car while she was driving.
Tried to Snap her Neck
A court affidavit said Oakes then tried to snap her neck. He took over driving and crashed into a guardrail. Oakes fled the scene on foot.
$250,000 Cash Bail
Farmington Police apprehended Oakes and transported him to the Franklin County Jail. Cash bail was set at $250,000.
