
Man Sentenced to 26 Years in Prison for Shooting Deputy in Maine
A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 26 years in prison for Attempted Murder of a Deputy in Minot, Maine.

Corey Hamel entered a guilty plea on Tuesday.
Sgt. Shot at Disturbance Call
Court records said Hamel shot Androscoggin County Sgt. Randy Williams in the leg in February 2024 after Deputies responded to a disturbance call on Woodman Hill Road.
House Fire
When police arrived at the scene, a house was on fire and Deputies were helping people escape.
Shots Fired from Driveway
Hamel shot at authorities from the driveway and hit Sgt. Williams, said the Sun Journal. He was then apprehended and taken to jail.
Sgt. Underwent Surgery
Williams was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. He was released later that week.
Criminal History
Hamel was convicted in 2020 for Domestic Violence Assault and had a criminal history for decades.
