Accident Tuesday Afternoon on Route 1 in Presque Isle [UPDATE]

Police say an accident Tuesday afternoon on the Houlton Road in Presque Isle sent a 23-year old woman to the hospital. 

According to Deputy Chief Laurie Kelly of the Presque Isle Police Department, a 2007 Chevrolet extended cab pickup was traveling north shortly before 4:00 p.m. when it struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was legally parked on the shoulder of the road.

Lauren Faulkner of Mars Hill was taken to the Aroostook Medical Center to be checked for possible back injuries.  Miss Faulkner was treated and released.  The front end of the pickup was significantly damaged.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
