Open Farm Day will be taking place across New Brunswick on Sunday, September 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Strawberry Hill Farm: They invite you to visit a diversified certified organic farm overlooking the Saint John River where they grow over 40 types of vegetables and berries as well farm beef, chicken, pork and eggs. All of their livestock are pasture raised with plenty of fresh air.

Activity: Tour of the farm and ability to buy fresh produce there at the farm.

The Sunrise Farm – a community agriculture learning centre: Sunrise is a community agricultural learning centre, open to schools, organizations and individuals to use for their own educational, employment, production, training, research and/or recreational purposes. Home to beef and dairy cattle and chickens, the farm is owned by the Parkinson family who are long-time dairy farmers. The project concept is managed by Sunrise Partners for Agriculture Development and Education (SPADE), a provincial non-profit organization focused on providing programs for persons on social assistance – but the site is open to all. It is funded in part by the Province of New Brunswick, the sale of milk and poultry with other products being developed.

Activity: Sunrise invites you to tour the farm, meet the animals and the folks, and get some ideas for your own agriculture-related projects.

Address: 299 Campbell Settlement, just below Woodstock. Take Exit 188 off the TCH to Route 555 west, then to Campbell Settlement Road just past Richmond Corner – about a 10-minute drive.

Dukeshire's Apples - Orchard Shade Farms: With four generations of apple growers, Orchard Shade Farms is a long serving apple orchard to the Carleton County region, and beyond. With the first tree planted in 1929, and now over 50 acres, and 10,000 trees, they provide apples flavoured for every taste bud. Come by and see them to taste for yourself!
