Vernon Maynard Skydives on 100th Birthday [VIDEO]

A California man celebrated his 100th birthday Monday by going skydiving.  Vernon Maynard got clearance from his doctor before making a tandem parachute jump.

Maynard, a retired car dealer says it's something he has always wanted to do.  He completed the jump from 13,000 feet with help from an instructor from Skydive Perris, outside Los Angeles.  Two of Maynard’s great nephews also took their first skydive at the same time.

Maynard was born in Nebraska in 1913. He now lives in Palm Desert, California.  He is one of a just a few brave souls in the world who have gone skydiving at 100 years old.
