Sgt. Jeffrey Clark of the Maine State Police said a 1995 GMC pickup failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road, went airborne, rolled several times, and hit a guy wire pole.  The truck came to rest down an embankment.

A man and woman were reported to have been trapped under the vehicle, Sgt. Clark said.

Forty-seven-year-old Richie Suitter from Linneus died from his injuries at the scene. His wife, 46-year-old Gail Suitter was taken by ambulance to the Houlton Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing but speed and alcohol are believed to be the cause of the crash, Clark said.

Trooper Kilcollins investigated the crash. Several agencies assisted, including: Reed Plantation Fire Dept., Danforth Fire and Rescue, Danforth Ambulance and Patten Ambulance.
