Police were called to a home on Main Street in the tiny northern border town around 5:45 a.m. Saturday to investigate a domestic violence shooting. Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the victim is identified as 31-year-old Amy Theriault of St. Francis.

State police maintained a presence overnight in the town as the search for 38-year-old Jesse Marquis of Fort Kent continues. The Maine Warden Service and County Sheriff's Department are also assisting in the search for Marquis, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Canadian authorities have also been notified that a fugitive is on the run near the New Brunswick border.

Marquis, who worked as a school bus driver, had a long-time relationship with Theriault, police say.  The two were reported to be engaged.
