West District RCMP responded to a complaint at a residence on Main Street at around 5:30 p.m. on July 9, 2016, of a man making threats. When police arrived the person inside refused to leave the residence.  There were concerns that the individual could harm himself or others, said police.

Approximately an hour after police arrived, the man was arrested without incident, police said. He was the only person in the residence.

Marcel Benoit has been charged with breaching an undertaking with the court.  He appeared in Woodstock provincial court on July 11 for a bail hearing. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on July 13.

The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.
