A young mother who went into labor early Wednesday morning in snowy Philadelphia didn't make it to the hospital--in fact, she didn't make it out of her driveway.

Shirley Bonanni told WPVI-TV that she woke up with contractions about 10 minutes apart, but by the time she had showered, the contractions were too quick and too strong for her to walk.

The parking lot was covered in snow and ice, and Shirley's husband Fabian couldn't get the car up the hill.

So he quickly and carefully helped his wife into their 2-year old son's plastic sled, intending to slide her down the icy slope to the car. But the baby was ready to be born.

A neighbor saw the commotion outside and called 911. And with prompting from a dispatcher on the phone,  Bella Sophia Bonanni was delivered on a sled in the middle of Cinnamon Drive.
