Police say a 43-year-old Moncton man has been charged with drug trafficking and four other people have been arrested following a search in Moncton, N.B.

The Codiac RCMP Crime Reduction Unit along with members of the General Investigations Section, executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a home on Beechwood Avenue, according to Corporal Marco Léger.

Police seized quantities of what is believed to be methamphetamine, hydrocodone, dilaudid and crystal meth, as well as a restricted firearm and a crossbow, Léger said. Officers also recovered what appeared to be stolen property.

Dean Gautreau of Moncton appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with four counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a restricted firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.

Police say a 28-year-old woman from Colchester County, N.S., was released to the Nova Scotia RCMP in connection with warrants on an unrelated matter.

A 19-year-old woman, a 33-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, all from Moncton, were released and are expected to appear in court at a later date.

RCMP say the investigation is continuing.
