Missing 66-Year-Old Maine Man
Below is the press release from State Police Lt. Troy Gardner on the disappearance of 66-year-old Guy Carmel of Greenbush, made at an Thursday afternoon news conference at the State Police offices in Bangor.
On September 25, 2017, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a possible Missing Person. The individual in question was 66-year-old Guy Carmel who was living at 75 Towers Road in Greenbush, Maine.
Guy is approximately 5’9 tall, weighs approximately 185 lbs. with gray hair and brown eyes.
The Sheriff’s Department began looking for Mr. Carmel and eventually assigned Detectives from their Criminal Investigative Division to assist in locating him.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was contacted by the Sheriff’s Department in November and we began working on this investigation. Based on the information we have at this point, we believe the last known contact with Mr. Carmel was in March of 2017.
Earlier this morning, we arrived at the 75 Towers Road property and secured it. The property consists of a residence and out buildings that are located on approximately 10 acres of mostly wooded land.
The towers road is a paved dead end road that is approximately 1 mile in length. We have the road blocked off and will only be allowing local traffic through that area until we have finished our work.
Currently we have members of our Evidence Response Team and members of our K-9 Team on the property. Our focus at this point is to locate, or make contact, with Mr. Carmel. Obviously, our goal is to identify and/or collect evidence that will assist us in doing so.
We are being assisted by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Maine Warden Service. We anticipate being at the property at least overnight and possibly through the day tomorrow. There is no way to determine exactly how long it will take us to complete our work. It will depend on the weather as well as the amount of time it takes to conduct a thorough search of the property.
We are asking for anyone who may have information that will assist us in locating Mr. Carmel to contact us. That includes anyone who has been in contact with him, anyone who knows where he is or anyone who has information about where he may be. Again, our focus is on locating, or making contact, with Mr. Carmel.
We can be reached by contacting the Maine State Police barracks in Bangor (and the number is 973-3700). Anyone who calls can ask to speak to Sgt. Darryl Peary who is the primary investigator.
