Man Charged for Stealing Vehicle from Lowe’s Parking Lot in Maine
A 55-year-old man was arrested after he stole a vehicle from a Lowe’s parking lot in Thomaston.
Charged with Stealing Vehicle from Parking Lot
Thomaston Police said David Atwood was charged with three counts of Theft, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, and Burglary.
Returned the Stolen Vehicle and Fled
Later in the day, Atwood returned the stolen vehicle to the Lowe’s Parking lot on New County Road. He then fled the scene on foot.
Damage and Money Stolen
Police said the vehicle had significant damage after it was returned and cash had been stolen.
Arrested at McDonald’s
Atwood was later located at a McDonald’s and arrested.
Suspect in Rental Car and Golf Cart Thefts
He was also “identified as a suspect in the burglary of Enterprise car rental and for the theft of a golf cart from the property,” said Thomaston Police.
Person of Interest in Suspicious Fires
The Office of the State Fire Marshal interviews Atwood as a person of interest in suspicious fires in the area.
Taken to Jail and Ongoing Investigation
Atwood was transported to the Knox County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
