Information came forward that prompted the investigations resulting in three suspensions in early November, according to a press release from RCMP New Brunswick. A fourth member from the Woodstock area was suspended Tuesday morning.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has been brought in to determine if there is any criminality related to their alleged conduct. The investigation has been launched with independent oversight from the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.

“The conduct of members of the RCMP is rightfully held to a higher standard,” said Assistant Commissioner Roger Brown, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in New Brunswick. “These suspensions are troubling but I can assure the public we are taking these matters very seriously. Our members go to work every day to protect the communities we serve and they do a great job. When the conduct of our members comes into question, it undermines the entire Force.”

All four members are currently suspended with pay but suspension without pay is being pursued in some of the cases.
