94-Year-Old Driver Dies in Northern New Brunswick Crash
The RCMP is investigating a single-vehicle crash in northern New Brunswick early Thursday that claimed the life of a 94-year-old man.
Just after midnight, police and emergency personnel responded to a crash on Highway 11 near Tracadie. RCMP say a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado travelling southbound went off the highway, and hit a steel post before veering to the right and coming to a rest in the ditch.
A 94-year-old man from Losier Settlement, N.B., who was alone in the pickup, died at the scene as a result of his injuries, according to Corporal Pierre Chiasson of the Tracadie RCMP detachment.
Police say speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. A reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing, Chiasson said.
