Woodland Man Behind Bars One Day After He Was Released on Bail
The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office has charged a Woodland man with criminal threatening with a gun, one day after he was released from jail.
Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on the Pratt Road in Woodland around 8:00 Tuesday morning, according to Sheriff Darrell Crandall.
The investigation determined that 56-year-old Jonathan Monahan had threatened a man staying with him with a handgun. The other man believed Monahan had a 9mm pistol, but deputies determined it was actually a BB gun made to look like a real firearm, Crandall said.
The gun was seized and Monahan was arrested and charged with criminal threatening with a weapon, reckless conduct and violation of bail.
Sheriff Crandall said Monahan had just been released on Monday from the Aroostook County Jail, where he had been awaiting trial for theft. The victim of that crime had posted Monahan's bail.
Monahan was returned to the Aroostook County Jail where he will remain until he sees a judge, Crandall said.
Sgt. Matthew Cummings and Deputy Reid Clark investigated the Tuesday morning call.
