Local artist Matthew Nadeau is Wintergreen Arts Center’s featured artist for September.

The opening reception for his show “Origins of Emotion:  Modern Portraiture” will be held at the center on September 7, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm during the First Friday Downtown Art Walk.

Matthew Nadeau “Nado Art” is a self-taught, lifelong artist.  He specializes in portraits, contemporary and abstract, and works in acrylic and oil paint.

“I have been painting and drawing all my life,” said Nadeau.  “As a little boy all I ever wanted were art supplies.  My parents always supported my artistic abilities.  My only art classes were the basic ones in school.  I also watched a lot of Bob Ross as a child.”

When asked about Pennywise, his artwork representing the September show at Wintergreen, Nadeau said, “I have always been obsessed with Stephen King’s books and the popular movie, IT.  I have a passion for painting portraits which portray some sort of emotion.  Many folks tell me exactly how the paintings make them feel and I love hearing everyone’s different emotions relating to each and every painting.”

Nadeau is a native of Fort Kent and currently lives in Fort Fairfield.  His art can be viewed on Facebook at Nado Art.

Refreshments will be served.  The event is free and open to the public.
