The Maine town of Alfred is auctioning off one of its firetrucks, with all the money raised going into a fund to benefit the community.

How Long Is the Auction Going On?

Have you ever dreamed of owning a firetruck? Well, the town of Alfred can help you realize that dream with its current auction. But if you want to get in on this, you have to move fast because the auction ends on Friday at 2:37 p.m. As of this writing, the top bid was $5,100, so you can still get it for a great price. And all the money raised by the auction is going back into the town of Alfred's general fund, to help with things like road repairs, local events, community programs, and the like.

What Would I Do With a Firetruck?

Maybe you're someone who likes to take part in parades or perhaps your business could use a mascot-type vehicle to garner attention. Perhaps you're part of a local volunteer fire department that could use this truck. Of course, if you're a grandparent, you could earn a lot of points by taking the kids for rides in your very own firetruck. You might even have to buy a dalmatian to complete the experience. Or, you could bring a huge smile to the face of a retired firefighter by giving them their very own firetruck. It's garnering some attention because, when I looked at the site today, there were already 18 bids.

Is the Truck in Good Shape?

The 1995 Freightliner FL90 firetruck has 46,409 miles on it. There's a Cummings Diesel engine under the hood and it has a 1,000-gallon tank. Full disclosure, the listing on municibid.com does say that the truck needs some bodywork.

Check out the site and consider making your bid before it's too late. You just might start 2023 with a beautiful bright red firetruck of your very own. Do me a favor. If you have the winning bid, would you drive it past my house and sound the siren? We love to hear our dog Toby howl.
