09/30 - Tr. Michaud responded to a crash in Connor. A 34 year old female drove off the road into the woods. The vehicle struck several trees and then came to rest. Investigation disclosed that the female was texting back and forth with her boyfriend. Tr. Michaud issued her summonses for Texting While Operating, Failing to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle, Expired Insurance, and seat belt violations for her and her 8 year old son who was injured when the passenger side airbag struck him in the face. Her children were 8, 5, and 3 years old.

10/01 - Tr. Sylvia began a background investigation on an applicant Eric Sucy who works for Houlton PD.

10/02 - Tr. Ferland responded to RT 11 in Hersey for a single vehicle crash. The operator, a 24 year old male from Patten, was driving home from a night shift. The operator went off the road and hit a tree. The vehicle landed on its side. The operator was the only occupant. He was not wearing a seat belt and was extracted from the rear of the vehicle by medical personnel. The operator was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center from Houlton Regional Hospital. The operator is in stable condition.

10/03 - Troopers Marquis, Hafford and Flynn along with Sgt. Haines arrested a 50 year old Allagash man for domestic terrorizing related to threats he made against his ex-girlfriend and her father. Two protection orders were served and the man’s firearms were secured per the court order. Tr. Marquis is primary.

10/04 - Sgt. Haines attempted to stop a vehicle on Fort St in Mars Hill for speeding. The operator failed to stop and a high speed pursuit ensued with Tr. Flynn taking over as primary and Sgt. Haines following the vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The chase continued North on Route 1A through Easton and into Fort Fairfield. Fort Fairfield PD deployed spikes disabling all four tires, but the vehicle continued onward at a slower speed before turning onto a field road and getting stuck in the grass. The sole occupant and operator was a 33 year old man from Hartford, Maine. He was charged with O.U.I., Eluding, Passing a Roadblock and Driving to Endanger. State Police were assisted by Fort Fairfield PD, Border Patrol, Presque Isle PD, and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department. The chase lasted approximately 18 minutes and covered 23.5 miles.

10/04 - Troopers Flynn and Sylvia along with Sgt. Haines and Lt. Cote assisted the Aroostook SO with a criminal threatening complaint in Blaine where three men went to a girl’s house and threatened her with a gun. One of the men then fired of a round when they were leaving. Information came in that the shooter was at a residence in Mars Hill. State Police responded to the residence and due to several exigent circumstances that developed, ended up making forced entry and taking the shooter and another suspect into custody. A female and two small children were also in the residence.

10/04 - Tr. Casavant arrested a 42 year old Linneus woman for domestic assault on her husband. The following day Tr. Casavant completed a follow up with the victim and coordinated property exchange between both parties.

10/05 - Tr. Flynn attended a Safety Expo at Sears in Presque Isle and Tr. Sylvia and Sgt. Haines attended a benefit for retired Trooper Lynwood Hersey who is battling cancer.

10/05 - Tr. Sylvia arrested a 59 year old Oakfield man for domestic assault on his mother. The man suffered from mental illness, but was adamant he needed to go to jail.

10/06 - Tr. Whalen responded to a domestic assault in Mars Hill. Male subject fled the residence after breaking a glass door and assaulting female. This is the second occurrence in the past month of domestic assault between the two, warrants have been issued for male and it’s believed he’s left the area.

10/07 – Troop F Troopers traveled to Bangor for the Northern Division Inspection.

10/07 – Tr. Quint encountered a vehicle driving aggressively, passing groups of cars and at one point traveling 91 MPH in a 55 zone as Tr. Quint tried to get the vehicle stopped. Tr. Quint stopped and summonsed the operator for 30+.

10/07 – Tr. Clark took a report from a woman who had her purse stolen from her vehicle while climbing Haystack Mountain. The victim reported that her debit/credit card had been used at a few local businesses in the Presque Isle and Caribou area. Tr. Michaud assisted with getting video footage and receipts from the businesses and two possible suspects have been identified. The Aroostook S.O. also took a similar complaint the week prior and have one of the same suspect’s. Tr. Clark is waiting for evidence to be processed for further leads.

10/09 - Tr. Flynn arrested a 31 year old Mars Hill man for tampering with a victim and VCR after having contact with the victim of his initial DV arrest and trying to convince and bribe her to not testify against him.

10/11 – Fort Fairfield PD responded to a burglary at the Amish shop on the Houlton Rd. Approximately $500 in Canadian cash stolen along with several shop tools and torches used attempting to unsuccessfully open a large floor safe. Tr. Flynn responded to the scene to assist FFPD who also requested an ERT. Tr. Corey Hafford responded and processed the scene.

10/11 – Tr. Clark and Sergeants Harris and Fuller assisted Limestone P.D. with a stabbing complaint. Two males got into an altercation over a female during an end of harvest party. A fight ensued and one of the men was stabbed in the arm and leg. The wounds were not life threatening. A K-9 track was completed but ended on the roadway. The suspect turned himself in that evening advising that he had been picked by his mother.

10/11 - Tr. Levesque responded to St. Francis for an accident. During investigation he discovered that the woman that claimed to have been driving actually wasn’t and it was her husband who was under suspension and had been drinking. Male was summonsed for OAS, he was found to not be under the influence.

10/11 - Tr. Monahan was on routine patrol and attempted to stop a Side-by-side ATV that was operating on the roadway. The ATV attempted to avoid Tr. Monahan by driving down a dirt road but was unable to get past a locked gate. The ATV then became stuck in deep mud on the side of the roadway and Tr. Monahan was able get the operator out of the ATV. The male operator was subsequently charged with OUI and operating an ATV on a public way.

10/11 - Tr. Saucier covered a shop lifting complaint at the IGA in Patten. Female suspect was caught on video and summonsed her later the same day.

10/11 - Warden Alan Dudley called in a MV north bound @ 110 +. Tr. Saucier was able to set up and stop the vehicle and summonsed him for Imprudent Speed and OAS traffic infraction. The subject was from Nova Scotia.

10/11 - Tr. Flynn dealt with a Child Custody issue in New Sweden where the biological father came to Maine to take custody of his 14 year old daughter since her mother’s recent passing. There have been issues presented by the Step-Father and possibly the 14 year old not wanting to leave with him. With the funeral proceedings this weekend, the father has been advised that he may need to wait until after the funeral to take custody.

10/12 - Tr. Lilley responded to a theft of metal and vehicle parts in Cary. After investigation it was discovered that the items were turned in to a local scrap metal yard and a suspect was identified. Tr. Lilley located the male suspect and gained a confession in the theft and the male was charged.

10/12 - Tr. Monahan responded to a theft of a dog in Mars Hill. Woman had been in the store shopping and when she came outside she found that one of her two dogs was missing. As Tr. Monahan was investigating, the missing dog was found in the trunk of the car by the owner, it is not clear how the dog ended up in the trunk.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.
