11/06 - Tr. Ferland responded to the port of entry in Houlton. A tractor trailer had both front and back license plates completely covered. After further investigation, Tr. Ferland discovered that the license plate on the trailer was altered with paint like material. The owner of the truck company arrived on scene and admitted that it was done to avoid tolls while travelling across country. The company was charged with allowing unlawful use and altering a license plate, both class E crimes.

11/06 - Tr. Monahan and Tr. Lilley responded to a civil incident in Linneus over a dispute of an electric bill. During the dispute, a male subject threatened another male subject which resulted in Tr. Monahan summonsing the male for terrorizing. As they were dealing with the subjects on the roadway, another vehicle approached at a high rate of speed and skidded in the roadway, stopping at the group and a female got out and began yelling at the victims. The female was arrested for driving to endanger and transported to ACJ.

11/06 – Tr. Clark responded to the Masardis Rd. (Rt. 11) in Ashland to assist Ashland P.D. with a fatal motor vehicle crash. Tr. Flynn responded and reconstructed the accident.

11/06 – Troopers Quint and Sylvia located and arrested a Linneus man for his part in a burglary/criminal threatening with a firearm/terrorizing incident that happened last week. The juvenile involved was also located and charged with her part in the crimes by Tr. Quint. Troopers continue to search for another Linneus man involved in the incident and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

11/07 – Tr. Clark responded to Portage Lake for a male “wound up” in a back hoe. Once emergency personnel arrived it was found that the male suffered a cardiac arrest event and died while operating the back hoe. The back hoe was still running when the victim was found. The victim was 64 yoa. His doctor signed the death certificate and this will not be a Medical Examiner’s case.

11/07 – Tr. Michaud was in Caribou when he attempted to pull over a vehicle for traveling 86 in a 45. The vehicle turned into a known drug house, and the operator drove behind the house into an extremely muddy area. The SUV made it through two large mud holes, and it appeared that once the operator noticed Tr. Michaud had made it through the mud as well, he stopped the vehicle. The operator was arrested and charged with Aggravated Operating after Revocation, Criminal Speed, and Violation of Bail. The passenger was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule W drugs (Bath Salts and Fentanyl) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The operator was also on probation for previous charges which included passing a road block and eluding.

11/09 – Members of Troop F paid their respects at the funeral of Legendary Trooper George “Bud” Graves in Presque Isle. Sgt. Harris and Tr. Quint attended in Class A Dress Blouse and were posted with the Troop F guidon. Lt. Cote, Sgt. Haines and several members of Section 3 also attended. The standing room only crowd included many MSP retirees who expressed their thanks for the uniform presence at the funeral.

11/10 - Troopers Flynn, Casavant, Sylvia and Sgt. Haines along with the assistance of PIPD, arrested a 33 year old Mars Hill man on 7 outstanding warrants. Troopers have handled two domestic assaults over the last month and Aroostook SO had a third several days ago. An informant verified the man was hiding inside his mother’s residence in Presque Isle. The residence was secured and as a search warrant was being drafted, the suspect came outside and was taken into custody. His mother was also charged with hindering apprehension.

11/11 - Tr. Monahan responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a horse drawn buggy in Easton. An Amish youth was driving the buggy southbound on the side of Rt. 1A when a southbound car struck the rear of the buggy, pushing it off the roadway into a lawn and destroying it. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene and was located later that night in Orono. Operator was summonsed for leaving the scene of a PD accident, driving to endanger, distracted driving and failure to use caution when passing an animal. There were no injuries to the Amish youth or the horse.

11/11 - Tr. Michaud covered a car/moose crash on Route 161 near Madawaska Lake. Senator Troy Jackson and his son were on their way home when the moose ran into the road and struck the vehicle. Senator Jackson and his son were not injured in the crash, but the vehicle was demolished.

11/13 – Tr. Quint witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through a construction zone including traveling past a flagger. Once past the construction area Tr. Quint was able to use his radar to verify the vehicle’s speed at 89 in a 55. The operator was summonsed for criminal speed.

11/13 – Sgt. Fuller and Tr. Ferland concluded an investigation on a 24 year old woman from Littleton. The woman stole approximately 56 checks and used them to steal just over $8,600 in goods and cash. The woman used the checks at multiple locations, with multiple businesses that have not been paid for the goods or cash the woman received due to insufficient funds in the account. The woman was arrested and charged with theft and forgery, both class C crimes due to the amount that was stolen.

11/14 – Tr. Quint went to the Aroostook County Jail and charged a woman with a new crime of VCR. The woman is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail for her part in a burglary (class A), criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon (class C), and terrorizing (class C) incident from a couple weeks prior in New Limerick. The woman’s commitment order/conditions of release stipulate no contact with a subject who the woman has been calling from the phone inside the jail. Tr. Sylvia was reviewing the woman’s phone calls from the jail and discovered the violation. There is an active arrest warrant for the subject for his part in the New Limerick incident.

11/15 - Tr. Sylvia assisted MDEA processing a meth lab in Owls Head as a member of their Lab Team.

11/15 - 19 year old Abigail Ladner of Fort Fairfield succumbed to injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle crash on October 27 in Easton. Abigail passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Tr. Flynn reconstructed the crash and is also the primary investigator.

11/16 - Tr. Marquis investigated a theft complaint on the Island Rd in St. Agatha. Speakers were stolen from outside the complainant’s camp. The case remains under investigation.

11/16 - Tr. Saucier charged a 62 year old Freeport man for criminal speed on the Interstate in Sherman. The man was caught on radar traveling 115 mph in his Porsche.

11/16 - Tr. Casavant investigated an attempted burglary on the Tabor Rd in Woodland. The building was damaged but it does not appear that entry was made. The investigation is ongoing.

11/16 - Tr. Levesque responded to Caswell to assist ambulance service with a combative patient. Patient struck and scratched EMT personnel while they were trying to treat her and Tr. Levesque arrested female for assault on a medical provider. The female was cleared medically from hospital and transported to ACJ.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.
