A Grand Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador man has been charged with drug-related violations following a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway near Fredericton.

On Thursday, the New Brunswick RCMP's Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit with assistance from the West District RCMP and Police Dog Service from the Fredericton Police Force, arrested 53-year-old Edward Woolridge, from Grand Falls.

According to the report, Mounties stopped a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Deerwood Drive Exit, outside of Fredericton, on a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed bags of marijuana and hashish along with a single bag containing an unknown substance in the vehicle.

Woolridge appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court on Friday, and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cannabis marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking in cannabis resin.

He has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
