In celebration of what would be Vera Estey’s 122nd birthday, the Society will host a Champagne & Candlelight Tour of the small, two-story Victorian era house.  The guided tour will discuss the beginnings of Presque Isle, the history of the house, and its unique resident, Vera Estey.  Visitors will see the house much as its original inhabitants did – by candlelight.  Light hors d’oeuvres and champagne or sparkling juice will be served.

The tour will start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 per person and space is limited.  Reservations are required and may be made by calling 762-1151, leaving your name, phone number, and number of tickets desired.  Tour participants must be 21 years of age or older.  ID may be required.

Kim Smith, Secretary/Treasurer of the Society’s Board of Directors, says, “There is something for everyone to see in the house with fascinating items from the Civil War era, John R Braden, our Teddy Roosevelt artifacts and a new exhibit on Dr. Storer Boone."

The Historical Society’s regular tour season begins in earnest this month with monthly guided Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Presque Isle, City-Wide Narrated History Tours aboard Molly the Trolley, guided tours of the 1875 Vera Estey House, and guided tours of the Historic Fairmount Cemetery.
