Police Investigate Shooting, Car Crash in Southeast New Brunswick

The RCMP and the Major Crime Unit are investigating a shooting that is believed to have occurred Friday night along a highway in Bouctouche.

Police received a call shortly after 8:45 p.m. of an apparent single-vehicle crash on Highway 475 near Chemin Desroches, according to Cpl. Dan Melanson of Southeast District RCMP. The vehicle ran off the road and was on the beach near the water.

When officers arrived, a 40-year-old man from Richibucto was discovered on the side of the road with a gunshot wound.

He was treated at Sainte-Anne-de-Kent Hospital and later transported to the Moncton City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and the investigation is ongoing.
