Stepfather Charged after 4-Year-Old Died from Gunshot in Maine
A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with Manslaughter after a 4-year-old died from a gunshot wound in Lewiston.
Stepfather Charged
Robert McCoy, the boy’s stepfather, was taken into custody Wednesday and was also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
4-Year-Old Boy Pronounced Dead at Hospital
The 4-year-old, Jasper Smith, died at the hospital May 17 from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead around 7:08 am.
Mother Arrested on Warrants
The mother, 27-year-old Mikayla Smith, was also arrested on unrelated warrants.
County Jail and Ongoing Investigation
McCoy and Smith were both taken to the Androscoggin County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
