Man Charged after Shooting Himself in the Hand in Maine

A 45-year-old man was arrested and charged with illegally possessing a gun after he shot himself in the hand in Lewiston.

Police responded after Derek Bourdon went to Saint Mary’s Medical Center around 10:30 am with a gunshot wound to his hand.

Man Was Uncooperative and Refused to Give Police Info About Shooting

“Bourdon was uncooperative with law enforcement and refused to provide any details of the incident or the location where it occurred,” according to the Lewiston Police Department.

Cameras Used to Locate Where Shooting Took Place

Officers used city cameras and the FLOCK system to identify the vehicle used to transport him to the hospital.

Police Located Abandoned Rental Car

An abandoned rental car was located where the shooting took place at 115 Bartlett Street.

Man Shot Himself While Mishandling a Firearm

Police said Bourdon had shot himself while mishandling a gun.
