Newspaper Delivery Driver Reports Gun Threat in Mapleton [UPDATE]
An 18-year-old man and two juveniles have been charged for allegedly threatening a newspaper delivery driver with a gun in Mapleton early Friday morning.
State Police say a driver delivering the Bangor Daily News called 911 shortly after 2 a.m., reporting he, his wife and 10-year-old son were threatened at gunpoint after they pulled into the driveway of a residence in Mapleton. He said they were then pursued for several miles on the Mapleton Road by a red 2004 Pontiac Grand Am.
According to Sgt. Josh Haines, police executed search warrants at the residence in Mapleton and on a vehicle in Presque Isle. Investigators seized firearms and other items of evidence.
Police arrested 18-year-old Brandon Green of Chapman on charges of Aggravated Criminal Threatening and Aggravated Criminal Mischief. A male juvenile was arrested on similar charges and another teen was charged and released to his parents.
The Bangor Daily News reports the teens apparently mistook the driver for someone else with whom they had a grievance.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office assisted State Police with the investigation.
