New Brunswick To See Food Bill Increase By $400 Next Year, According To Report

If you're an avid grocery shopper, then you probably can't help but notice that food costs seem to be on the rise. New Brunswickers may see a big increase in their groceries next year.

According to an annual report, those living in New Brunswick could see an increase of about $150 in dining out and an additional $400 in their grocery bill beginning in 2019.

The University of Guelph and Dalhousie University both estimated that overall food prices for those living in the Maritime's could increase anywhere between 1.5 and 3.5 percent.

Due to inclement weather, vegetables could see the biggest increase of about four to six percent. That's the biggest increase of any of the other food items.

However, in the reports nine-year history, seafood prices are expected to fall.

The report hints to meat prices falling 1 to 3-percent, but has yet to be determined for sure until prices come out next year.
