Jamie Albert Deroche appeared in Moncton Provincial Court for sentencing Friday.

He was arrested on October 20, 2015, when members of the RCMP in New Brunswick's Internet Child Exploitation Unit, with the assistance of the Codiac Regional RCMP, executed a search warrant at a residence on Maple Street in Moncton. Police seized electronic equipment and an unsecured firearm.

Jamie Deroche was charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, and unsafe storage of a firearm, said police. He subsequently pleaded guilty to the charges.

In addition to his sentence, Jamie Deroche will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry for life, is prohibited from using the Internet for non-work-related purposes, and from being around children without the presence of an adult.
