Houlton Man Sentenced For Smuggling Child Pornography into Canada
A Houlton man has been sentenced in Woodstock Provincial Court to 12 months in jail after pleading guilty to smuggling child pornography into Canada.
The charges against 66-year-old Eugene Williams follow an investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The agency says that on April 10, 2018, Williams arrived at the Woodstock border crossing seeking entry to Canada and was referred for secondary examination.
During the inspection, agents seized numerous digital devices and Williams was denied entry. The border agency said that upon further examination it was determined that some of the devices contained images of child pornography.
Williams was arrested on June 18, 2019 when he again he tried to enter Canada.
