
Man Sentenced to 6 Years for Firearms Charges in Maine
A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 6 years in prison for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
6 Years in Prison
Jermaine Gillespie, a convicted felon, was given 72 months with three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty on August 26, 2024.
Smoking Marijuana in Vehicle
Police arrested Gillespie in September 2022 after he was found smoking marijuana in a parked vehicle in Biddeford. His bail conditions prohibited him from possessing marijuana, said the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Convicted Felon with Gun
Officers searched the vehicle and seized a 9 mm pistol. He was prohibited from possessing a firearm after a 2013 conviction in Massachusetts for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
ATF and Local Police Investigation
Investigating the case was the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Biddeford Police Department.
