Man Sentenced to 3+ Years for Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 39-year-old man was sentenced to more than 3 years for drug trafficking in Maine.
Sentenced to 3 Years and 2 Months
Jerome Hovey Leclair from Portsmouth, New Hampshire will serve 38 months in prison. He will also have three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty on July 11, 2024.
Undercover Informant
An undercover informant met with Leclair at his residence to buy counterfeit Oxycodone pills in April 2023, said court records.
Phone Call Recorded
Leclair later agreed to sell 100 pills and added 25 pills for free “so that they could make more money selling them.” The phone call was recorded.
Drug Buy Videotaped
Surveillance was set up in advance of the purchase of an agreed-upon location. An undercover officer drove the informant to the buy. The meeting was videotaped and audio captured in July.
Drugs Seized after Vehicle Stop
Leclair’s vehicle was pulled over on July 7. Police seized 500 blue circular pills from the vehicle along with approximately 30 grams of meth.
Two More Buys
“In August 2023, the informant again contacted Leclair, negotiating and completing two more buys in New Hampshire,” said the DOJ.
Arrested and Jailed
Leclair was arrested and taken to jail. Assisting in the investigation was the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Berwick Police Department and New Hampshire State Police.
